SINGAPORE: The new community hub in Yishun, known as Chong Pang City, has reached an important construction milestone with the completion of its superstructure and is on schedule to open next year, according to the Singapore Land Authority (SLA).

Features of Chong Pang City

Upon its completion, Chong Pang City is set to become a vibrant community space featuring a community club, a hawker center, and a market. Residents can also look forward to modern amenities such as swimming pools, a gym, various gym activity rooms, and a playground. Additionally, the hub will include a multi-purpose hall, a sheltered community plaza, and a rooftop jogging track.

The development will also offer convenient access to a supermarket, diverse dining options, and areas designed for education and recreation. Covering nine stories, the project will house approximately 4,200 square meters of commercial space, with plans to launch tenders for these units in the second quarter of this year.

Inclusive Design and Sustainability Efforts

The design of Chong Pang City prioritizes inclusivity and accessibility, featuring wheelchair ramps at swimming pools and changing rooms equipped with electric height-adjustable beds, catering to seniors and individuals with disabilities.

This community hub stands out as the first government-integrated development to achieve the Platinum Super Low Energy certification, boasting energy savings of up to 40% compared to traditional buildings. Notable sustainability features include photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging points, with the solar system estimated to generate 600,000 kWh of renewable energy annually. This is enough to power around 120 four-room apartments for an entire year.

Furthermore, water-efficient fixtures and rainwater harvesting systems are set to significantly cut down on water usage, as reported by the SLA.
