Major Development in Rehousing Efforts for Wang Fuk Court Fire Victims

In a significant stride towards recovery, over 85% of the residents affected by the fire at Wang Fuk Court have committed to selling their properties to the government of Hong Kong. This move is part of a specialized rehousing initiative aimed at assisting those impacted by the unfortunate incident.

High Participation Rate in Sale Agreements

The latest announcements reveal that as of Monday, a remarkable 1,702 households—accounting for 85.8% of flat owners from blocks A to H in the estate—have signed sale and purchase agreements. This high level of participation is crucial for the government’s efforts to facilitate a smooth transition for the displaced residents.

Flat Selection Process Underway

On the same day as the sale agreements were reported, the Housing Bureau conducted computerized draws to establish the selection order for available subsidized flats under the rehousing scheme. This process ensures a fair and transparent allocation of housing options to those in need.

A spokesperson from the bureau explained, “The Housing Bureau performed individual computerized random-order ballots for the two different batches of applicants. This was done to determine the sequence of the last two digits of the application numbers for all participants. Following the results, the bureau randomly generated the order of all applicants.”
