Part-Time Actor and Family Face Charges Following Mall Brawl in Johor Bahru

A dramatic incident unfolded in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, where a part-time actor from Singapore and his family have been charged for their involvement in a public brawl at a shopping mall. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a confrontation after one of the suspects’ wives accused another man of accidentally spilling beer on her. The scuffle escalated quickly, with multiple individuals exchanging blows and damaging property within the retail space. Later that same day, the confrontations continued at the Larkin police station, where one of the involved parties attempted to report the incident. In a surprising turn, he was attacked by another suspect, leading to yet another physical altercation.

Injuries and Court Proceedings

Local reports indicated that both men involved were taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment of minor injuries following the clashes. P. Suresh, 46, a part-time actor, later admitted to causing harm to Chua Chin Heng, 56, during the mall incident. Chua, along with his family members Loe Sou Peng, 55, and Axl Chua Kai Jun, 27, denied the accusations against them.

If convicted, the family faces potential penalties of up to one year in prison, a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both. The court released them on bail of RM5,000 each with one Malaysian surety, scheduling their next court appearance for January 27, 2026.

Further Charges and Fines

Suresh was fined RM1,500 for his role in the incident. Both he and Chua were additionally charged for engaging in a fight at the police station shortly after the first incident. While Suresh pleaded guilty in this case, Chua maintained his innocence.

This particular offense could lead to a prison sentence of up to six months, a fine of RM500, or both. Consequently, the court ordered Suresh to pay an additional fine of RM400 or serve a month in jail should he fail to pay.

The court has set Chua’s bail at RM4,000, with his appearance also scheduled for January 27, 2026.
