Tragedy struck in southern Moscow as a recent explosion resulted in the deaths of two police officers and another individual. This incident unfolded as the officers endeavored to apprehend a suspicious person, according to the Russian Investigative Committee.

According to official reports, the blast occurred late Tuesday night as the officers approached the suspect near their patrol vehicle. “An explosive device was triggered,” officials stated, leading to the fatal injuries of the two traffic police officers and the nearby individual.

The Aftermath and Investigation

In the wake of the explosion, the area was secured with a significant police presence while the investigation began. Authorities have opened a case for “attempted murder” against law enforcement officials and “explosives trafficking.” Images broadcasted on Russian television showcased the extensive police response to the incident.

Location-wise, the tragedy occurred on Yeletskaya Street, not far from where General Fanil Sarvarov was killed just days prior. Sarvarov, a prominent figure in the Russian military’s operational training sector, lost his life to an explosive device concealed under a vehicle on Monday.

The ongoing conflict with Ukraine, which escalated in February 2022, has seen several Russian generals, officials, and public figures supporting the military actions face deadly attacks, with some incidents occurring within Russia and in the territories under its control.
